Hi, I am an Interior Architect and Design graduate of Falmouth University (class of 2017) where I’ve found that I favour the architectural aspects and I think this is shown in my own designs.

My projects tend to be derived from the chosen site location and the characteristics of the surrounding area. After choosing a site, I then start analysing the place and then begin to look through that to form and develop a brief which have user- led concepts. This means that my projects focus on the needs of the user and revolving the project around how my building can be beneficial in terms of providing these needs, and creating designs which are more appropriate and responsive.

I like to explore and design in ways that stimulate activity and interaction between the user and the building itself; designing projects that are mentally, as well as physically, engaging; challenging the user, often through the stimulation of the senses. 

​

Another method I use is contrast, in particular, the contrast of the old and new. I prefer working on buildings that already have a presence and a “sense of place”, designing projects that evolve from the characteristics of the existing architecture. These type of buildings are generally more worn, tired, abandoned and forgotten, or ignored and I like my projects to be able to bring them back to the public eye and attention.

Throughout my projects, I create more architectural led designs, with elements of industrial and traditional details, whilst also being conscious of the environment; using greener and more environmentally friendly products and recycled materials, such as wood and glass and occasionally concrete.

 

Works that I referred to most include Therme Vals by Peter Zumthor, Convent de Sant Francesc by David Closes, Dovecote Studio by Haworth Tompkin, Moritzburg Museum Extension by Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos and Rotermann’s Old and New Flour Storage by HGA.
